There’s Beer in the Hunter Valley?

May 10th, 2017

by Shannon Kearns

Sydney has such a great range of breweries that it can be easy to forget that there’s excellent beer outside of the city as well. That’s why, as we have started to grow and expand our tours, we decided to look regionally, and we are excited to announce that the Hunter Valley is the perfect area for  our  new Dave’s tours! Although the region is better known for its wine production, there are also some awesome breweries in the area, and we can’t wait to introduce them to you.

Our tours are all about showcasing the local beer scene, and with the beer industry alive and growing across the country, we want to offer our customers the chance to explore different breweries and regions outside of Sydney. The move into the Hunter  is part of our regional beer tourism plan, which is simply about getting more visitors and locals deep inside all parts of the beer community and sharing our love of good beer.

To deliver our new tours, Dave’s has partnered with Newcastle local Shannon Kearns to bring the Hunter operation to life. Shannon is a born-and-bred Novocastrian, and is passionate about sharing Newcastle’s and the Hunter’s growing craft beer scene. Shannon started his own beer tourism business, One for the Road Tours in 2015, offering walking tours of Newcastle’s small bar and brewery scene, and later saw the opportunity to join forces with Dave’s after collaborating with him on beer tourism ideas and schemes.

The partnership includes the existing Newcastle walking tour format operating under the Dave’s banner, in addition to our Hunter Valley bus tours. We are also planning to expand our regional tours to different areas in the future, so keep an ear out!

The bus tours will follow a similar format of Dave’s tried and tested winning formula: Our guests will be treated to unique behind-the-scenes brewery experiences, delicious lunches from our venues and of course, the all-important beer tasting, all within the beautiful Hunter Valley surrounds.

So if you happen to be in the Hunter Valley for a weekend away, for a wedding, or just for a visit, we would love to see you on tour!
